You are invited to join us for the Alabama Health Libraries Association's annual meeting at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach , AL , September 13-15, 2006 !

The theme for this year's meeting is “From Idea to Impact: Health Information and Technology”. In support of our theme, we offer two excellent CE courses. On Thursday morning Charles Wessel of the University of Pittsburgh will teach “Number, Number, Who's Got the Number? Or Who's Counting: Health Statistics Sources”. That same afternoon, Dale Prince from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine will present his workshop “Geeks Bearing Gifts: unwrapping new technology trends”. Come join us for these great CE opportunities, get ideas and make an impact!

The location of this year's meeting offers inviting beaches and spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico. Perdido Beach Resort lies directly on the beach in Orange Beach , AL. Included in your packet is information about things to do and places to go in the area. For those of you who may wish to extend your stay at Perdido Beach Resort, the meeting room rate of $115 per night will be honored through the week-end based on availability.

Our speaker this year is Dr. Linda Roussel, DSN, faculty member of the College of Nursing at the University of South Alabama . Dr. Roussel has spearheaded teaching Evidence-Based Practice in her undergraduate and graduate nursing research classes both in the traditional classroom and in her online classes. She has also formed collaborative partnerships with medical librarians. Dr. Roussel will discuss the applications of technology in nursing programs, and the integration of library resources, services, and instruction in nursing curricula. This timely topic is relevant to academic and hospital librarians alike. A panel discussion will follow Dr. Roussel's presentation. Join us for an invigorating Friday morning!
